There are many roads in the Texas Hill Country that are spooky, haunted, or have an otherwise paranormal legend attached to them. Most of the roads with paranormal reputations run along a creek, river, or have a historic and notable history. Sam Bass Road named after a gunfighting bank robber is one road. Hair Man Road, named after a large hairy creature that stalks the banks of Brushy Creek is another. And the road featured in this video – Cow Creek Road.
Cow Creek Road is off of Farm to Market Road 1431, between Lago Vista and Marble Falls Texas. The road follows a small creek, with granite rock canyons and caves, with an ample supply of vegetation and wildlife. Ranches are found along the road, in between cattle guards and fencing – loose bulls and cows roam around eating the plentiful vegetation that is found along the creek. Here, in the dense vegetation – you’ll also find “The Shadow Rider” — a mythical winged creature with red eyes who patrols along the creek. Unlike most winged creatures, The Shadow Rider is a creature akin to a guardian angel – often spotted near a loose cow in the road. Many teenagers have been saved from hitting a cow while traveling at 70mph along the dark road by The Shadow Rider.
When traveling along the road in this video – you’ll see a longhorn steer on the side of the road watching me as I pass by him. He’s busy munching on his lunch in the shade. See if you can spot him.
